The main purpose of this study is to explore the issue of knowledge sharing and the factors that affect knowledge sharing. In the researches of knowledge sharing, most studies discuss the issue from the perspective of management field, e.g. theory of planned behavior or social field, e.g. social exchange theory. These researches are helpful for understanding the key dimensions of knowledge sharing. However, to a certain extent, the issue is still lack of a more complete discussion. By integrating the promoting, repressing and moderating factors of knowledge sharing, the study explores the factors that affect knowledge sharing.
In total, 800 questionnaires were sent out and 230 effective questionnaires were returned with effective recovery rate 28%. Factor analysis and regression analysis are used to examine the hypotheses furthermore. The results of the research show that altruism and trust have positive effects on knowledge sharing. bounded rationality and opportunism have significant negative effect on knowledge sharing. In addition, information system and social defense moderate the relationship between knowledge sharing and the success of IS development. Finally, the findings also show that knowledge sharing significantly influences the success of IS development.
