由於全球化與都市化的關係，人口、產業與經濟發展皆往都市地區集中，造成部分鄉村聚落人口、產業的衰退，在發展上逐漸邊陲化，所提供的生活機能亦持續萎縮。在邊陲化發展的鄉村聚落中，居民們需在時空限制下協調安排其日常活動，來應對邊陲化發展的處境，並使用不同的活動場所來滿足日常生活的需求。
本研究目的為（1）釐清邊陲化鄉村聚落居民日常生活活動與活動場所之關係；（2）從時間地理學觀點解析邊陲化鄉村聚落居民的日常活動系統；（3）探討邊陲化鄉村聚落複合性功能場所之運作機制。本研究以台南市後壁區的菁寮里與周邊三里為研究對象，透過地理敘事分析邊陲化鄉村聚落居民的日常生活活動系統，並釐清不同活動場所在居民日常生活中扮演的功能與角色。
首先，本研究發現在邊陲化鄉村聚落居民的日常活動中，聚落群內外的活動場所具有空間分工的情形，聚落群外的設施具有生活支援服務上的必要性，聚落群內則是以提供臨時性與替代性的生活支援服務為主。而聚落內的休閒娛樂與社會性活動則因融入居民的日常生活中，而能作為維繫社會關係以及促進鄰里互助的重要資源。其次，本研究進一步由時間地理學觀點檢視不同居民的日常活動系統，發現就業活動的型態、生命週期與家庭結構為影響日常活動安排的重要關鍵，並進而造成居民與聚落之間連結關係的差異。其中非家庭支援建立在聚落內的鄰里關係、互助網絡與社會福利資源運作之上，形成替代性的生活支援功能，在交通移動相對不便的鄉村聚落，此類支援對獨居者及聚落內高齡者維持日常生活尤其重要。
最後，本研究發現聚落群內的複合性功能場所包括便利商店、雜貨店、活動中心、學校、廟宇及公園綠地，並扮演維持基礎生活服務及建立、維繫社會關係的角色。這些場所在空間層級上具有分工協作的現象，便利商店屬於聚落群層級，因市場區位考量而集中分佈於核心聚落，可支援周邊聚落居民日常所需的生活服務；活動中心、學校屬於聚落層級，受公共資源限制而分布於不同聚落中，可透過多元使用來提供居民所需的公共服務機能；雜貨店、廟宇及公園綠地則屬於聚落內社區層級，主要分布於聚落內的不同社區，為居民日常性的鄰里互動、信仰活動或社區參與等社會性活動的重要據點，並發展出交換農業生產資訊、補足活動空間與設施及維繫社會網絡關係等功能。這些場所一旦消失，不僅會減少居民日常活動的據點，也可能使依附其上的社會活動、資訊交流與互助網絡逐漸弱化。

Urbanization has led to the withdrawal of daily facilities and services from some rural settlements, contributing to their marginalization. Residents must therefore coordinate everyday activities under time-space constraints and use various activity places to meet their needs. This study examines Jingliao Village and three surrounding villages in Houbi District, Tainan City. It aims to: (1) clarify the relationship between residents’ daily activities and activity places; (2) analyze daily activity systems from the perspective of time-space geography; and (3) explore the roles of multifunctional places in marginalized rural settlements. Through geo-narrative analysis, this study illustrates how residents’ daily activity systems operate under time-space constraints and clarifies the functions of different activity places in residents’ everyday life.
The findings show that facilities outside the settlement cluster provide necessary services for everyday living, while places within the cluster mainly offer basic and temporary support. Leisure and social activities embedded in residents’ everyday lives serve as important resources for maintaining social relationships and mutual support among neighbors. Employment, life-course stage, and household structure are key factors shaping residents’ daily activity arrangements. Multifunctional places within the settlement cluster include convenience stores, grocery stores, community centers, schools, temples, and parks and green spaces. These places maintain basic services for everyday living, sustain social relationships, and demonstrate collaboration across spatial levels. Convenience stores are concentrated in the core settlement due to market considerations, while community centers and schools are distributed across settlements under government resource constraints. Grocery stores, temples, and parks and green spaces function as community-level nodes for social activities, facilitating the exchange of agricultural production information and compensating for the lack of activity spaces and facilities.
