Information Technology (IT) is an important weapon when many companies face competitions in their fields globally. IT not only can provide faster services to customers in needs, but only can satisfy their demands. It can help companies build up good systems of knowledge management, which steadily accumulates assets in knowledge. It also can be one of the intermediums when organizations proceed strategies’ revolutions and innovations. It can lift up companies’ advantages in competition. It even can be a good helper when departments in organization are doing communications interactively. Therefore, how to apply IT effectively becomes an important job when an organization wants to run well.
This study is based on above benefits. I wish to offer some academic assistance through real testing to organizations investing on IT now. By so doing, I assemble some workable models that different natures of organizations use IT to proceed organizational management. On the other hand, with real testing I would examine some certain assumptions from school lectures.
The population in the study is the top 5000 firms of Taiwan listed in the China Credit Information Service Incorporation. A random stratified sampling method was used to select 120 firms in each of the five levels, 600 questionnaires were mailed. The remaining 105 valid and completed were used for the quantitative analysis. It represents a useable response rate of 17.5%.
According to this study, I found out that the more a large organization authorizes itself with high formulization or low centralization , the more it invests on IT and employees training. When employees get much IT concepts and further support those concepts, these can benefit knowledge management, organizationally interactive relations, and organizational revolution effects. In return, an organization can win better performance. In addition, an organization should pay attention on adjustment of organizational nature when it develops IT. Meanwhile, this study is to encourage Taiwan’s businesses to give up the past and irreformable concept. The past and irreformabl concept is that information management is equal to information technology. Now those organizations should re-think the strategy value of IT. I believe that only I combine IT, managing visions, and organizational management together, we can use IT to build up competitive brick walls and strategies advantages. Organizations can gain more profits from it.
