WWW在Internet的世界中扮演著資訊共享平台的重要角色。而XML是繼HTML之後為新一代Web相關系統中之極重要的技術。
本論文之研究中引用了XML技術並搭配一XML儲存系統(XML Document Storage，簡稱XDS)來實現一套資訊共享工作平台，稱之為Information Sharing Workspace (簡稱ISW)。利用ISW，使用者可以很方便的將資訊包裝成XML objects以儲存在XDS供查詢瀏覽，達成資訊共享的目的。此外，ISW的使用者可以對資訊XML objects作多種型式的annotations以進行互動，而資訊XML objects與其annotations的內容都可以利用語音的方式來作輸出入，除了大大增加使用者在提供資訊上的方便性，也可以讓資訊的呈現變得更加生動。

WWW is an important platform for information sharing on the Internet. Following HTML, XML will be the most important technology on the next generation of Web system.
In this thesis, we apply the XML technology to implement an Information Sharing Workspace, called ISW. Using the XML Storage System, called XDS, the ISW supports users an XML-based information sharing environment. Using the ISW, users can create information objects easily and save them as XML objects in the XDS for searching and browsing. In addition, the ISW supports for users several kinds of annotations to the XML objects stored in the XDS system. All the elements of the XML objects and the annotations can be expressed by voice. Thus it provides great convenience for users to input the contents and more attractive interaction.
