This study adopts a quantitative analysis to deeply explore how enterprises establish leadership in software development projects within the environment of the Android Open Source Project led by Google. Unlike partnership formed through formal contracts, the collaborative relationship among enterprises within the open-source community largely rely on reciprocal collaboration.
The analysis result indicates that when enterprise establish reciprocal collaboration with other firms, it can further influence the willingness of these firms to assist the enterprise. This study examines the cooperative activities among enterprises within the Android Open Source Project from the perspectives of calculative trust and relational trust, providing a more comprehensive view of the issues related to leadership generation in the open-source community. Additionally, this research fills gaps in the study of open-source communities by discussing reciprocal behaviors and the trust relationship they foster among enterprises, and it offers new insights to further clarify the performance of enterprises within the open-source community.
