This study examined the relationship between Zhong-Yong thinking and creativity. To clearly figure out this complicated relationship, we did three separated studies from three different aspects of Zhong-Yong thinking. We hypothesized that (1) Yin-Yang convertibility of Zhong-Yong thinking is positively related to creativity; (2) Harmony enhancement of Zhong-Yong thinking is positively related to creativity and Disintegration avoidance of Zhong-Yong thinking is negatively related creativity; (3) Holistic thinking of Zhong-Yong thinking is positively related to creativity.
Using a combination of experimental design and questionnaire survey, we analyzed data from 163 students of university in northern Taiwan.
Results show that (1) hypothesis that Yin-Yang convertibility of Zhong-Yong thinking is positively related to creativity is partial supported; (2) hypothesis that Harmony enhancement of Zhong-Yong thinking is positively related to creativity is not supported and hypothesis that Disintegration avoidance of Zhong-Yong thinking is negatively related creativity is partial supported; (3) hypothesis that Holistic thinking of Zhong-Yong thinking is positively related to creativity is not supported.
Finally, the contributions and limitations of this study were discussed, and
the recommendations for academic and practical applications were also provided.
