The United Nations has highlighted the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals as a key international issue. As companies expand, they strive to promote sustainability amidst dynamic changes. Despite broad and internationally recognized sustainability indicators; However, the pursuit of rational business interests often obstructs the promotion of sustainability. This process requires participation across various sectors and transcends multiple boundaries, relying on cross-boundary information flow Internal organizational integration. However, without subordinate relationships, the process faces challenges. The research question is: How can ambidexterity-boundary spanning promotion of sustainability help businesses respond promptly and benefit them?
This study reviews the development of various sustainability efforts and related research, noting that sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) are often seen as performance metrics rather than essential business practices. Sustainability information spans internationally and across different company units, such as finance, human resources, product types, company sizes, and suppliers. By using ambidexterity-boundary spanning integration of sustainability projects, this research investigates how such sustainability initiatives can be effectively implemented, addressing gaps in comprehensive sustainability studies and practices.
Considering that this research topic is still in its early stages of development, this study adopts a case study approach, focusing on an electronic component supplier as the research case. Through in-depth interviews, it gathers relevant information from the ambidextrous boundary-spanning to explore this case. Specifically, the research outlines the stages of ambidextrous boundary-spanning sustainability within the company and examines the phenomena at each stage against theoretical reflections. The goal is to apply ambidexterous boundary-spanning sustainability to help the company adapt to systemic changes, enhancing it is long-term sustainable competitiveness and contributing theoretically and practically to the field.
