Abstract
This paper investigates firms knowledge search behavior affects innovation performance.
Take the global superior heavy R&D Intensity firms as the sample. We make a distinction between two areas of the firm's search resources : the search of its own knowledge-base and the search of others knowledge , and the age of the knowledge affects innovation performance. This research collects 1976-2006's USPTO Web Patent Databases, and build up " Patent & Innovation Database" to use for the convenience of the research after tidying up the data.
In our paper of patenting activity in superior heavy R&D Intensity firms, we find that the firms should explores the exterior knowledge , and explores the new internal knowledge, will conducive to the innovation performance.
