本論文的目的在以XML設計一套使用於以ARM9嵌入式系統為基礎之嬰幼兒居家照護系統的資料管理程式，此程式可以使用於遠端(Remote)與本地端(Local)。程式的機制包含資料的儲存架構與格式、資料的傳輸協定與方式、資料的查詢管理及顯示的方式與介面。父母可以利用此程式來記錄與管理嬰幼兒的特殊影像，異常聲音，發生的事件，及生理參數。其使用電腦透過網路取得遠端的嵌入式平台所記錄於可攜式硬碟中的嬰幼兒資料，包括影像、聲音、某事件發生的時間日期及一些生理參數。另外也使用HTTP協定，透過IE網頁瀏覽器，瀏覽記錄在遠端嵌入式平台硬碟中的XML資料。本論文初步完成的部份有Windows (x86)個人電腦上的使用者介面程式、ARM9嵌入式系統(Embedded System)的Linux網路程式設計、使用XML在不同作業系統(OS)與CPU之間的資料管理。在網路的資料傳輸上，則使用UDP協定模擬傳送即時捕捉到的影像及聲音資料，而儲存於硬碟中的非即時資料則使用TCP協定來傳送。由於儲存的格式是XML的語法，所以可以做很多網路上的應用，使整個系統的軟體功能具備了擴充性與應用性。

　The goal of this thesis is to develop XML-based data management programs for the infant tel-home care system based on ARM9 embedded system platform. The programs can be used on the remote and the local terminals. The scheme of the program has the structure and format for storage, the protocol and method for transmission, the query and management of data, and the methods and interfaces for data presentation. Parents can use the program to record and manage the special images, sounds, events, and physiological signals of the infant. They can use Personal Computer (PC) to acquire remote data which are stored in the mobile hard disk (HD) of the embedded platform via the network. The items of the recorded data include images, sounds, date and time of events, and some physiological signals of the infant. Additionally, the system also provides HTTP network protocol support. Users can use IE browser to acquire and browse the XML data that stored in the HD of remote embedded platform. Some of the programs have been done in this thesis, such as the user interface program that developed in the x86 windows PC, the network programs of embedded linux system based on the ARM9 chip, and the XML-based data management programs for different OSs (Operation Systems) and CPUs. The UDP protocol is used to simulate the transmission of real-time captured images and sounds via LAN (Local Area Network). The non-real-time data that stored in the remote HD are transmitted by the TCP protocol. Since the XML format is used. It will be good for the system to extend network applications. The system will be convinent for extending. More applications are coming with the XML used.
