The price level has been rising over the years, but the salary level does not catch up with the changes. Low salary has been an issue in Taiwan. Limited by the lack of public information on employee compensation, the previous studies were more about the correlation between top management salary and the business performance. In order to increase the transparency over salaries, the listed companies should publish the 2018 annual salary of the “non-managerial full-time employee” while having the corporates with low salary based on three indicators to provide the correlation and rationality between the business performance and the employee salary. The study took the 2018 non-managerial full-time employee salary disclosed on the MOPS as example to discuss whether employee salary has significant impact on the business performance. With empirical evidence, the study showed a significantly positive correlation between non-managerial employee salary and the business performance. The results were more obvious in the high tech industry and the subsample of those companies with higher salary in the same industry. It implies the corporate should not take employee salary as a non-beneficiary cost, but as an investment in human resources that helps to improve the corporate competitiveness.
