Nowadays, knowledge has become one of the most important strategic assets for firms. And knowledge management is the most interesting issue in strategic management. For international firms, how to learn and absorb the knowledge through knowledge transfer from their partners, especially when they deal with the great culture distance between them and their partners, who are located at different countries, is really a big issue. So, knowledge management ability will become a key factor of international corporations’ competitive advantage. This study will focus on how the organizational culture between two companies affect the knowledge transfer performance, and also discuss how to choose the right entry mode to deal with the culture distance, which is concerned as a knowledge transfer obstacle.
The main questions of this framework:
1.How the international culture distance between local companies and their foreign partners affect their knowledge transfer performance.
2.How the organizational culture distance between local companies and their foreign partners affect their knowledge transfer performance.
3.How the different entry modes affect the relationship between national culture distance and knowledge transfer performance?
4.How the different entry modes affect the relationship between organizational culture distance and knowledge transfer performance?
The empirical results of this study show that:
1.National culture distance will not affect knowledge transfer performance.
2.Organizational culture distance will become a obstacle of knowledge transferring and learning.
3.Lower level control entry mode can decrease the negative affect of organizational culture distance to knowledge transfer performance.
