In recent years, corporate goals have shifted away from profit maximization and shareholder wealth maximization, now encompassing actions that consider the well-being of future generations and embrace a long-term, altruistic ecological responsiveness. Upon reviewing the literature, it is said that the concepts of corporate sustainable development and climate issues align with the principles of the generativity mindsets theory. Both emphasize the importance for companies to ensure the well-being of future generations, adopt a long-term perspective, and possess a contributive mindset. Therefore, based on the generativity mindsets theory, this study aims to investigate the impact of corporate generative mindset on the implementation of ecological responsiveness. Simultaneously, the research incorporates the demand of reputation to comprehensively explore the factors driving companies to engage in ecological responsiveness.
Previous research on the generative mindset theory has lacked in-depth characterization and quantitative empirical studies. Therefore, this study establishes the constituent factors of the generative mindset as the mindsets of next-generation, long-term mindsets, and altruistic mindsets, and empirically examines them. Additionally, this research concurrently explores the impact of corporate ecological responsiveness on performance.
This study collected 281 valid questionnaires from individuals currently employed in any business. The results of the study show:(1)a positive influence of corporate generative mindset (include the mindsets of next-generation, long-term mindsets, and altruistic mindsets) and the need of reputation on ecological responsiveness. (2)ecological responsiveness were found to have a positive impact on firm performance.
