The study utilized the Hollow Cylinder Apparatus to investigate pore water pressure generation and post-liquefaction volumetric strain on cyclic strain approach basis. Clean Ottawa Sand specimens with varying relative densities, vertical effective stress, and constant shear strain amplitude were prepared using the water sedimentation method. Each specimen underwent cyclic shearing at a frequency of 0.1 Hz, to induce excess pore water pressure generation and subsequent liquefaction, defined at an initial excess pore water pressure ratio. Following liquefaction initiation, specimens were drained to reconsolidated, to measure post-liquefaction volumetric strain. Pore Water Pressure Generation Curves were established by plotting excess pore water pressure ratio against shear strain amplitude for corresponding loading cycles . The results indicated that pore water pressure generation was primarily influenced by relative density, while the rate of accumulation of pore water pressure depended on shear strain amplitude. The post-liquefaction volumetric strain shows to not be influenced by initially applied shear strain amplitude but is affected by the effective vertical stresses and relative density of the soil after consolidation.
