This thesis is aimed to study the wireless power transmission capability across the metal barrier, so that electronic devices with metal cover can achieve wireless charging. The induced magnetic flux of Tx coil is able to cross the metal barrier by making some slots on metal plate. First of all, four basic resonant circuits with two-coil structure are analyzed. Secondly, the spatial distribution of the magnetic field induced by a loop coil is figured out through mathematical modeling. In addition, the eddy currents distribution and skin effect of a metal plate, which is placed in alternating magnetic fields, are derived thoroughly. Moreover, the transmission capability is explored when using various types of metal plates with the helping of electromagnetic field simulation software and numerical calculation software. Afterwards, not only the non-ideal effects but the Qi standard is considered to determine the size of winding coils. Lastly, five types of metal plates are manufactured and placed between the two-coil to measure and compare the transmission performance. In conclusion, all of them can achieve the goal of wireless power transmission, and the performance of overlapping type is the best among all types.
