In recent knowledge economy era, there is considerable change in the competitive environment firms face as well as rapidly increasing development of technology. Firms not only want to catch customers’ attention, but also to get rid of competitors’ chasing. To enhance their own competitive advantage in highly competing situation, the R&D strategy should be developed and decide on the basis of strategic resources. Thus, basing upon previous related studies, this research focuses on R&D strategies and employs resource-base theory to build an integrated framework to investigate new emerging types of R&D strategies. Additionally, we further explore what type of R&D strategies will have positive impact on investing resources and gaining advantages.

According to research purposes and hypotheses, this research use Factor Analysis and Reliability Analysis, Correlation analysis, Regression analysis and ANOVA to analyze, summarize, explain the data derived from questionnaires, and then test hypotheses by regression models. Finally, we reach/obtain conclusions as follows:
1.These research attempts to integrative explore how the combination of organizational core competences and R&D flow has effect on the R&D strategies to, and the result is that intangible assets are the key affecting factor.
2.According to the empirical analysis results, we found that rent spillover has the significantly positive effect on competitive advantage.
3.Our empirical findings confirm that the intangible assets can affect the diffusion of knowledge, and the organization capacity affect the growth of knowledge. Additionally, the growth of knowledge has the positive effect on R&D store, and the diffusion of knowledge positively affect R&D store as well as spillover effect. Hence, it also provides evidences that the diffusion of knowledge contributes to developing R&D strategies and, so as to achieve the competitive advantages.
4.The empirical analysis also reveals that R&D expenditure and R&D human resource have no significant association with the R&D store and spillover effect. Therefore, the key point is that firms should focus on the technology and knowledge generating from the input of capital and the human resources, rather than how much capital and the human resources they must invest.
5.Finally, we pave the way for firm to develop R&D strategies, and offers an ideal type of R&D strategies: high R&D store and high spillover effect.
