As technology evolves continuously, many new technologies and ideas have been developed. Many companies have produced abundant data, information, experiences, and skills under new process and new skills are developed and applied. Many technical manuals and reports have been developed for employees to apply or for references. Therefore many companies find they must preserve all documents and knowledge if they would like to keep competition in the field. They begin to establish the knowledge management system and promote employees to share knowledge. In which knowledge sharing is the result that employee individual uses the system in outside environment and through personal innermost cognitive.
Literatures indicate Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) is an important foundation of knowledge sharing. This theory states that an individual will take an action in a social environment via two factors of personal cognition-self-efficacy and outcome expectation.
On the other hand knowledge management system is also an important factor. Employee individual proceeds knowledge capture and sharing via this system. The quality, use, function, etc…, will decide the result of individual’s use willing. Some virtual community websites have been recognized as an important factor affecting knowledge sharing.
The purpose of this study is to identify the affect or hinder to individual’s knowledge sharing intention by applying SCT-based model adding KMS aspects. Especially this study explores the nature of personal expectancy. Therefore personal expectancy is divided into outcome expectancy and self-efficacy to examine their impacts on an individual’s knowledge sharing intention (Bandura, 1986, 1997). Besides this study research if KM system satisfactions will affect employees knowledge sharing intentions through SCT theory.
