The flow fields and motion behavior of the falling single-wing body are simulated by computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The commercial software Ansys Fluent is used. The research applied shear stress transport (SST) k–ω turbulence model and six-degree of freedom. The dynamic meshes were generated by Fluent Meshing model with polyhedral and hexahedral meshes. Two tests, the falling ball under different density and viscosity and the falling ice cone in the high altitude sky are simulated and verified with known data. We investigate the fall behaviors with the blade aspect ratios and sensor open or closed under the same moment of inertia. The single-wing angle of attack is 5 degrees. Euler angle is 30 degrees when the sensor was closed and Euler angle is 35 degrees when the sensor was opened. The falling behaviors, flow fields, forces, Euler angle, and rotating speed are computed and analyzed in this study to understand the design of the single-wing falling body.
