於攝影術誕生的兩百餘年間，其大幅影響了人們對於建築的觀看方式，從十九世紀中期大量明信片所推廣的異域風情、二十世紀初期黑白影像所塑造的現代主義神話，直至今日影像可以說是認識建築的首要方式，因其免去了人們親臨現場的必要性，且便於同一時刻將世界各地或是相異時期的建築形式進行比較與學習。然而當我們享受著攝影帶來的效益時，需注意到照片並非是真實的透明切片，拍攝者的主觀意識、所選用的拍攝工具以及照片最後的呈現方式皆會影響到觀者對於影像的詮釋，進而造成對一棟建築的認知產生差異。

本論文旨在釐清攝影與建築發展間密切的關聯性，藉由歷史比較研究法探討不同時期的影像技術及時代觀念對建築觀看產生的影響，以此疏理出建築攝影的發展脈絡。同時透過影像理論的相關探討，開闊人們普遍對於建築照片單調平乏的想像。
除了文獻資料的蒐集與整理外，亦希望能以實際操作的方式印證影像於空間認知上的作用，因此會將臺南市區作為影像實驗場域，在對著名建築攝影師的作品與拍攝理念進行分析後，以筆者於此生活期間所拍攝的照片進行對照，探討過往攝影者欲以建築影像表述的觀念在面對當代城市的社會現象時有何意義上的轉變，並讓觀者認識到臺南城市空間經影像轉譯後的多元風貌。

當代在網路媒介的幫助下，人們的日常生活與影像習習相關，虛擬實境技術的出現甚至讓影像擁有可以置換真實場所精神的能力。面對這般空間體驗愈加為影像所影響的發展趨勢，於本論文中在闡述建築攝影脈絡的同時，亦試圖提醒人們關於影像思維的重要性，唯有建立良好的觀看方式，才能於這為視覺文化所主導的當代社會中維持正確的價值觀念及判斷能力。

The purpose of this study is to clarify the close relationship between architecture and photography. The object of discussion is mainly still images throughout the entire history of development of photography. Through comparative research, this study analyzes the impact of development procedures, photography tools, and zeitgeist of each era on architecture images. With the aid of a large number of photographs, it helps readers broaden their imagination of the monotonous and ordinary architectural images.

After sorting out the context and development of architectural photography, the author will select the urban images taken during his time in Tainan as the research material and compare them with the image styles of renowned architectural photographers in the past to explore the contemporary architecture and urban space translated by the images, not only let the viewer realize the sentimental style of Tainan, but also confirmed the ability of photography to create spatial cognitive differences.

The emergence of photography technology has brought about drastic changes in people's lives, especially in the process of architectural development. Through images, people can get to know distant buildings. As a media tool, photography has greatly helped the dissemination of architectural culture. However, while we are enjoying the convenience it brings, we also need to pay attention to the fact that images are not completely objective and true representations. Only by establishing a good viewing mindset can we maintain a clear vision and viewpoint in today's age with such advanced imaging technology.
