  • 空間資料基礎架構(Spatial Data Infrastructure, SDI)為近年全球空間資訊發展的重要課題,其目的在於為分散於各處的空間資源(GeoResources)建構一個互相連結、整合運作的基礎環境。在互操作性的考量下,可掌握分散於各處之空間資源,並可正確加以解讀及運作為空間資料基礎架構之必要前提。目錄服務(Catalog Service)之主要目的即為透過地理資源詮釋資料對已存在地理資源進行管理與查詢,而為進一步達成跨領域、跨組織,甚至跨國界的資源應用,地理資源詮釋資料與目錄服務納入相關的標準及配套的運作模式,能提升空間資料互操作性的成效。近年來ISO/TC211與OGC雖已推動諸多有關空間資訊的國際標準,但如何建立由資源供應者至應用使用者之間暢通且完整的管道,仍有許多議題有待突破。

    本文擬針對目錄服務於空間資料基礎架構中的角色及資源詮釋資料描述之課題進行研討,並以目錄服務與空間資訊服務節點之詮釋資料的結合運作為討論之主軸,主要目標設定為 (1)建立符合國際標準之地理服務描述檔,以允許使用者或應用服務藉由解讀詮釋資料瞭解地理服務之功能及標準介面;(2)建立智慧型目錄服務,以精準搜尋及判斷可加以應用之地理資源。未來透過此目錄搜尋機制,可進而發展應用程式於伺服器端,整合各類不同地理資源予使用者,提昇空間資料基礎架構之互操作性。

    Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) is one of the important issues in the recent development of geo-spatial technology. The purpose of SDI is to create an interconnected and interoperable fundamental environment among geo-resources distributed in internet. Being interoperable in SDI environment, the prerequisite is to have a thorough control over the distributed geo-resources and be able to correctly interpret and use them. Catalog services allow to efficiently manage and query existing geo-resources based on their metadata. To further develop a geo-resource application mechanism that can operate across domains, organizations and even countries, it is necessary to take the “standardization” of metadata and catalog service into consideration, so as to improve the interoperability of geo-spatial data in heterogeneous environment. The ISO/TC211 and OGC have both proposed international GIS standards in recent years, but it remains to be a challenge about how to make a smooth and complete data transfer process from the geo-resources providers to the possible application users.

    This thesis intends to investigate the role and evaluate the contribution of catalog service and geo-resource metadata towards the SDI framework. By creating a linking relationship between catalog service and the metadata of geo-resources, we successfully (1) design a service metadata profile that complies with the international metadata standards and (2) create a catalog service environment allowing the search and interpretation of applicable geo-resources. With the catalog service as its core, the proposed framework not only allows future development of application software involving multiple geo-resources on the designated server and middleware, but also provides an open and interoperable environment for dynamic geo-spatial data integration.
