中央大學天文所碩士生周靜芬(周靜芬,2000)直接利用HIPPARCOS資料庫中具有較小誤差的天琴RR變星三角視差πo和視星等mv的資料,發現天琴RRab的平均絕對星等並非呈一定值,而是隨著距離的愈近,觀測到的絕對星等會逐漸變大的異常特性。經使用國立中央大學天文所的SLT觀測AX_Leo、AA_CMi、BH_Aur、V341_Aql 4顆變星之後,利用IRAF分析得到這些變星的光變曲線,再利用Edward G. Schmidt於1991年所提出的a和r兩參數、RRab光變曲線的特徵、與傅立葉周期分析等方法,確認它們的確是天琴RRab變星。最後,我們終於找出造成天琴RRab變星星等異常的原因是由Lutz-Kelker bias所造成的。
