本研究從參考物質由液態至固態相變的過程,而啟發對於建築空間設計操作新的觀點。並嘗試運用電腦輔助與自動化設備試驗出可以回應流動性、臨時性與動態性的媒材,並使用此特殊媒材進行設計創作。研究方向將分為多媒材實驗、空間的流動性與臨時性、單元分子的鍵結、流動身體的凝固四個部分進行討論。
整理自動化設備輔助設計由液態至固態相變探索下的限制條件,根據機器之運動模式、尺寸關係、回饋機制等條件進行一系列媒材試驗。比較各材料受拉伸作用後固化之變化,測試材料的形式以及可構築性等,以「彈性布固化薄殼」發展設計。
創作演練包含大、中、小三種不同空間尺度配合「彈性布固化薄殼」的設計操作。在大尺度的設計中,試圖運用試驗出的特殊媒材回應都市中空間的臨時性。中尺度的設計以再現液態溶液分子單元之間鍵結的關係,設計媒材單元的形式與其搭接方式,轉化為一空間裝置。在小尺度的設計操作中,以動態身體為出發點,試著創造將動態凝固的空間,並將此空間轉化為人體可以穿戴的物件。
SUMMARY
From liquid to solid, the process of a phase change inspired this research on a new way of viewing architectural design. Perspectives from (1) materiality of mixed media, (2) temporality of space, (3) modularization of construction, and (4) captured body movements are proposed and explored through the experimentation of forming through solidification process.
Collating restrictive conditions from automation equipment aided design in exploring the liquid to solid phase transformation. According to the movement of the machine, dimensions of the machine and feedback mechanisms to be the restrictive conditions for the multiple mediums experiments. Comparing the amount of material deformation after stretching and being the test to know the material shape and constructive. Decide to used "solidify elastic cloth shell" develop design.
The creation exercises contain large, medium and small three different spatial scales design. In large-scale design attempt to use special mediums to represent the temporary in the city. In medium-scale design try to represent the molecule-bonding and develop the shape of unit and the method of constructing to be the installation. In small-scale try to create the dynamic solidification space and transform to be the body installation.
