研究目的：國內外的調查及研究報告均顯示在學青少年中有性行為的比例越來越高。本研究主要探討台灣青少年兩性交往親密行為的現況、青少年親密行為程度與比例，兩性互動中的思考、情感與行為習慣與兩性親密行為的關係，以及兩性親密行為對個人自我發展的影響。本研究以美國心理學者常用的自我發展理論及國內臨床心理學者所發展出來的習慣理論為依據，期使能找出與較深層的性行為有顯著關係的習慣，藉由學校正式教育培養良好的兩性互動習慣來預防因非預期的性行為而產生的不利己結果；亦期藉由自我發展觀點來協助青少年以較成熟的思考方式接納並融合其親密性經驗，以利其自我的順利發展。
研究方法：本研究分自我發展與兩性交往習慣兩個部分進行；前者之結果以質之分析為主，而後者之結果則以量之分析為主。以立意取樣取得青少年受試者樣本填寫問卷及測驗資料後，以spss統計分析軟體進行結果分析。
研究結果：以自我發展觀點的初探研究結果發現（1）本研究首次引介的自我發展完句測驗評分者間一致性可達0.64~0.90。（2）年齡越大，自我發展程度越高，而台灣約70%國中生的自我發展程度落於順從期。（3）性別變項和兩性交往經驗變項皆與自我發展程度並無顯著相關；以習慣觀點的初探研究結果則發現35.7%的受試者有兩性交往經驗，其中的18.5%的親密行為程度僅只於情感交流，22.5%的親密行為程度僅止於牽手，41.6%有親吻行為，而其親密行為達到愛撫與性交者則分別為13.5%與3.9%。研究並發現（1）隨著年齡的成長，有兩性交往及有親密行為的人數比例增加，（2）國中生對於異性朋友及對於男女朋友的行為界限較模糊而高中生的這種行為界限較為明確；與國中學生相比，有較高比例的高中生同意青少年可以結交男女朋友、與異性朋友牽手並與男女朋友接吻。在兩性互動習慣方面，研究結果發現（3）需求滿足強度習慣與是否發生親密行為及親密行為的程度較無關係，但在有性刺激的情境下，規範順從習慣的強弱則與會不會發生較深層的親密行為有顯著負相關。
