研究背景：勃起功能障礙是一個顯著的健康問題，全球有52%的男性受勃起功能障礙影響，其中約5-20%勃起功能障礙程度為中度或重度，勃起功能障礙與過早死亡風險增加相關，有85%的性功能障礙是生理因素所引起，由於高血脂、高血壓、肥胖、糖尿病、抽菸、中風以及冠狀動脈疾病為勃起功能障礙的危險因子，大多數危險因子與罹患心血管疾病的危險因素相似，因此勃起功能障礙成為過早死亡、臨床意義的重要指標。台灣將近有100萬的男性為勃起功能障礙所困擾，任何年齡均有可能罹患勃起功能障礙，尤其是40歲以上的男性，但是就醫率僅有10%，其餘不是尋求民俗療法，就是默默承受，造成男人憂鬱、生氣、低自尊及缺乏自信，進而影響病人的生活品質。
研究目的：探討勃起功能障礙患者男子氣概與親密關係的相關。
研究方法：本研究採描述相關性研究設計，研究對象採連續性取樣，於南部某醫學中心泌尿科就診者採結構式問卷收集，排除閱讀困難、認知功能障礙患者，研究工具採用國際勃起功能指數5項版本（five-item version of the International Index of Erectile Function Questionnaire, IIEF-5）、男性自尊量表（Masculine Self-Esteem）、性親密量表，研究資料將以描述性統計、迴歸分析、相關性統計及路徑分析法進行分析。
研究結果：本研究共納入118名對象，依勃起功能障礙程度分為重度（29.7%）、中度（17.8%）、輕度到中度（19.5%）、輕度（12.7%）及正常（20.3%）；且大於60歲、身體質量指數為過重及肥胖、具有慢性疾病者為罹患勃起功能障礙的危險因子。勃起功能障礙越嚴重者其男子氣概及親密關係也越差，且勃起功能、男子氣概及親密關係三者間呈現顯著正相關，男子氣概越佳則勃起功能對親密關係的影響越小。
結論：在臨床上，醫護人員應儘早對就診者進行勃起功能障礙的評估，藉由了解就診者勃起功能狀況給予治療，並建立就診者對於性健康及治療的正確認知，進而協助其男子氣概及心理的調適，藉此維持或增進伴侶親密關係。

Erectile dysfunction is a common health problem, and it affects depression, low self-esteem, lack of confidence and lower quality of life. This cross-sectional and descriptive correlational study finds the association of masculinity with intimate relationship among erectile dysfunction patients. 118 patients in total are included in this study. In multivariate analysis, patients who were in unmarried status, at the education level of
high school, moderate and severe erectile dysfunction were found to affect intimate relationship among those patients with erectile dysfunction. However, it is important to assess the erectile function of patients as soon as possible. Patients can reconstruct masculinity and enhance their partner intimacy after they received the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
