In order to become a successful company, each firm needs not only good hardware but also people to use those facilities. If one firm hopes for good performance, people will be the most important reason. So every company wants to find the way to make their employers perform well on the job. Recently, emotional intelligence is one of the most nominated reasons that influence job performance. The reason is that, if a man has competent talent but he can’t control his emotion; he must easily be influenced by external environment and can’t do the job well. This research wants to integrate previous references then to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence and job performance.
The research sample was chosen from two conventional industry companies. Number of questionnaires collected was 235. Then we used statistics software (SPSS) to verify research hypothesis. The findings are below:
    1. Emotional intelligence has positive effect on job performance in conventional industry.
    2. There are significant difference in the effect of emotional intelligence on job performance for different gender, job function and state-run or private-owned company.
    3. There is no significant difference in the effect of emotional intelligence on job performance for different marital status.
