隨著醫療照護體系的轉變，慢性病兒童之療護已轉嫁給家庭；家庭照顧者在照護供應中可能會經歷角色緊張，進而影響照顧者及病童之健康，但是缺乏氣喘病童照顧者角色緊張之本土研究。本研究目的為確認氣喘病童之年齡、症狀嚴重度與其母親之角色緊張的關係。採立意取樣，以南部兩所教學醫院之氣喘病童母親為研究對象，以兒童氣喘症狀量表及照顧者緊張指數量表收集資料。問卷事先經過五名兒童醫護專家之內容效度測試，及十名氣喘兒童母親的問卷內在一致性信度測試。在取得研究對象之書面同意後正式收案，共收得99份有效問卷。所得資料先輸入SPSS/ Window 10.0軟體進行描述性統計分析，因為母親之角色緊張得分為非常態分佈，故以Spearman’s rank-order correlation coefficient檢定病童年齡、氣喘症狀量表得分與母親角色緊張指數量表得分之關係。結果發現：一、病童的氣喘症狀嚴重度越高，其母親產生的角色緊張嚴重度越高(r = .275, p = .003)；二、母親角色緊張的前三項為「睡眠干擾」、「身體緊張」、「尚有其他事情佔用我的時間」；三、病童的年齡與其母親的角色緊張指數得分無統計學上有意義之相關(r = - .113, p = .137)。本研究結果能增加氣喘病童照顧者角色緊張的相關知識，並建議臨床醫護人員利用照顧者緊張指數量表篩選出具角色緊張的照顧者，依量表中的高分項目：睡眠干擾、身體緊張來設計護理措施，提供適切的幫助。

　　Today's health systems rely increasingly on family members as direct caregivers. Those mothers are experiening considerable role strain associated with their caregiving responsibility. However, the knowledge of caregiver role strain of mothers is quite unclear. The purpose of the study was to identify the care-recipients’ age and symptoms severity associated with caregiver role strain among mothers of children with asthma. This is a quantitative study. Using a purposive sample, ninety-nine mothers of children with asthma were recruited from two hospitals of southern Taiwan. Mothers’ caregiver role strain was measured by Caregiver Strain Index. Asthma symptoms severity was measured by Pediatric Asthma Symptoms Scale. Demographic characteristics were compiled. The results of Spearman’s rank-order correlation indicated that 1. There was statistically significant relationship between asthmatic symptoms score and caregiver role strain (r = .275, p = .003). 2. “Sleep disturbance”, “physical strain”, and “other demands on my time” were the top three reported items. 3. Care-recipients’ age was not associated with caregiver role strain (r = - .113, p = .137). The findings of this study provide the understanding of caregiver role strain among mothers with asthmatic children. The caregiver strain index can be a useful method for detecting strain levels. “Sleep disturbance” and “physical strain” will be helpful in designing interventions to provide help for mothers.
