There were three purposes in the present study. First three scales, including the Rape Positive Outcome Expectancy Scale, Rape Negative Outcome Expectancy Scale, and Refusal Self-Efficacy of Sexual Offending Behaviors Scale, were developed and their psychometric properties were analyzed. Second, the differences of rape positive/ negative outcome expectancy and refusal self-efficacy of sexual offending behaviors were examined among rapists, drug offenders and a normal control group. Third, it was tested whether refusal self-efficacy mediated the relationships between outcome expectancy and sexual offending behaviors. The participants consisted of three groups, including 50 rapists, 50 non-rapist drug offenders and 50 normal controls. Results showed (1) there was no significant difference in rape positive outcome expectancy among the three groups; (2) both rapists and drug offenders revealed less rape negative outcome expectancy than the normal controls, but there was no significant difference between rapists and drug offenders; (3) rapists showed the lower levels of refusal self-efficacy for sexual offending behaviors than drug offenders and the normal controls; (4) refusal self-efficacy of sexual offending behaviors partially mediated the association of rape negative outcome expectancy with sexual offending behaviors. The treatment and assessment were discussed in light of these findings.
