This study investigates how the characteristics of a startup firm and its founder(s) influence the likelihood that the company receives acquisition invitations. By testing four hypotheses on a sample of 84 firms in Taiwan, this study found that, firstly, entrepreneurs with entrepreneurship education and management experience are more likely to receive acquisition invitations. Secondly, solo-founder startups are more likely to attract attention and receive acquisition invitations. Thirdly, startup founders with prior experience starting up companies and founders with prior top-or middle-level managerial experience conflict with each other. And finally, startup experiences are not the main reason for startups to receive acquisition invitations.
