第一次世界大戰與第二次世界大戰期間的女性藝術家，伊芙琳．鄧巴（Evelyn Dunbar, 1906-1960）是當時戰爭藝術家諮詢委員會（War Artists Advisory Committee, 1939）裡唯一的官方女性戰爭藝術家，於 1939 到 1945 年期間，鄧巴藉由呈現閒適風情的田園風景畫，與不追求強烈寫實效果的插畫風格圖像，創作了不同於其他女性藝術家的戰爭主題繪畫。關於兩次世界大戰時期，促使英國確立女性戰爭藝術家社會角色的主要因素，筆者可簡要區分為下列 2 項，其一是萬國工業博覽會（Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations/ the Great Exhibition, 1851）的舉辦，使得英國政府著重設立的工業設計院校或相關課程，成為女性藝術教育的主要推動力；其二則是，兩次世界大戰對英國工業生產造成的顯著影響，是女性大量取代受國家徵召的男性，成為戰爭期間維持國內工業生產的重要角色。以上 2 個因素，使得英國女性戰爭藝術家及其女性勞動主題作品，成為 20 世紀英國藝術脈絡裡不可忽視的一部分。因此在本研究，筆者欲從梳理女性戰爭藝術家發展基礎，逐漸聚焦到伊芙琳．鄧巴的戰爭藝術，深入分析藝術家戰爭主題繪畫之歷史背景、畫面構成手法，以及插畫繪圖方式，以探究鄧巴戰爭藝術的重要歷史價值。

Evelyn Dunbar (1906-1960) was the only official Women War Artist commissioned by the War Artists Advisory Committee (1939) in the Second World War. Due to her creation of leisurely country landscapes and illustration style paintings which didn't emphasize realistic images. These works were much more unique war subject paintings than other women artists' works then.
There are two main factors that contributed to the formation of Women Artists’ new social identity in Britain during the World War. First, due to the Great Exhibition (1851), the British government promote the establishment of setting up industrial design schools and design-related courses, which became the main driving force for improving women art education. Second, the major impact on British industrial production was that women largely replaced male soldiers and played the most important role in maintaining the development of industrial production during the World War. In the context of the above factors, British Women War Artists and their war painting became an integral part of British art history in the 20th century. Therefore, in this study, we will start by exploring the basics of the development of Women War Artists, gradually focusing on Evelyn Dunber's war paintings, then in-depth analysis of the historical background, composition, and illustration skills of the artist's war paintings. To discover the remarkable historical value of Dunbar's war art.
