The study attempts to investigate the basic mechanical properties of Portland Type I cement replaced by fly ash immersed in 10% Na2SO4 solution environment. The uniaxial compression, four-point bending and fracture toughness tests were performed and the corresponding strength of each test has been determined in this study.
This study finds that at the early stages, the strength of Portland Type I cement partially replaced by fly ash is lower than that of the pure Portland Type I cement. As immersion time increases, the strength of the cement with fly ash becomes greater than that of the pure cement. The experimental results also show that the Portland Type I cement partially replaced by 10%~20% fly ash immersed in 10% Na2SO4 solution environment for 28 days has better mechanical properties.
