The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating role of social capital factors between sport participation and factors of quality of life. In Taiwan, the regular exercise rate of the population has remained at 30% or so in recent years. Among all, sports clubs where sport participants can develop social networks have been a place for people to do exercise regularly. Doing exercise has been proved to benefit personal health physically, but the developed social relationships or networks are helpful with an increased life satisfaction. However, most past studies have explored the physical and physiological benefits of doing exercise, with fewer focusing on how social capital benefits quality of life due to sport participation, and even fewer have explored the influences of dimensions of social capital on the dimensions of quality of life because of participating in sport. This study targeted the sport club members who live in Kaohsiung and Tainan city. Using purposive sampling, this study collected 405 valid questionnaires. The data were analyzed with the PROCESS Macro for SPSS (Model 4). Sport participation can partially and indirectly affect quality of life factors via specific social capital dimensions. Theoretical and managerial implications are offered for governmental and event organizers to promote mass sport participation.
