The economic milieu of today is fast paced and ever changing. We have entered the era of a technology and knowledge-based economy that has been further characterized by high speed dissemination of information over the internet. Therefore, corporate entities need to harness information technology via information management skills in order to raise the performance of their supply chain management. This would in turn facilitate the rapidity by which market and clients' demands may be addressed so as to increase the corporate entity's competitive edge. The understanding of the interrelationship between each of the abovementioned fields has been in high demand by industries and has also been a topic of continued interest in academia. This study has adopted a structured approach to explore classical and traditional views as well as the relationship between independent and dependent variables by combining published literature with practical analysis. The study has also yielded noteworthy results by an in-depth research into the effects of info technology competency and second party supply chain management on competitiveness, which will further advance theoretical exchange within academia. This study targeted the corporate entities listed in the CCIS's "The Largest Coporations in Taiwan-Top 5000" that were classified under the high tech sector. The 152 responses to the questionnaire were then subjected to descriptive statistical analysis, analysis of variance and regression analysis. Results demonstrate the impact of each basic variable on information technology capability, supply chain management and competitive advantage. There is a positive relationship between InfoTech capability and a firm's competitive advantage, InfoTech capability and supply chain management efficacy, and supply chain management and a firm's competitive advantage.
