In cities, we often see public spaces that are poorly planned and used inefficiently. In response to the city's ever-changing conditions, planning is becoming a dynamic action where designers can make immediate corrections by interacting with the public. As a result, when designers fill spaces with functions, the configuration should be flexible and responsive to changes in public demand. Using temporary uses as the filling concept can generate a variety of opportunities for unused spaces and their planning activities. In this thesis, exhibition activities are proposed to occupy unused spaces via design for adaptability guidelines. New approaches using both physical and virtual interactions are examined. Three research actions are conducted to explore the possibility of more flexible spatial configuration and the interactive use of physical and virtual objects. In addition, to respond to the current environment, each action is designed in a phased plan and can be reconfigured when it is executed. The plan gradually transforms objects that fill spaces from physical to virtual ones. The exhibition and the occupying actions are meant to attract attention to the opportunities for temporary uses and unused spaces in cities.
