本論文之目的在於展現一次完整的建築設計習作過程：從認知體系建立到設計方案呈現。

設計習作處理的課題屬「設計問題」；面對此類問題，須從問題之外帶入大量的知識與見解，才能使問題收斂解決。因此，本論文的研究旨在透過設計習作訓練一種進行設計思考的能力；它與設計知識的品質與內容無關，而與有效地關連與運用知識有關。在範疇上，本次的練習將鎖定「有關性工作者歷史的知識」。

「藝色－現代情欲空間的形塑」為本次問題的題目。「以活動引發記憶而生意象」則為面對此題目之根本見解。關於論文進行中所需之知識，則主要抽取自日治時期台南「新町遊廓」－極具典範的性產業模式。

本論文由性工作者歷史意涵及模式演化的認知出發，從中瞭解情欲空間活動的啟示，繼而截取日治時期情色文化的行為模式，作為情欲文化展現的空間形式。鑑於歷史文化的關連，本論文以台南原「新町遊廊」區域附近之運河旁作為現代「情色空間」的展演基地。再擇以當時極富盛名「真花園」妓院的性產業模式為典例，從中抽離、轉化出現代情欲空間方案的三段順序：入口隱喻、情欲提升，藝色展演。

方案呈現中以入口及週遭都市紋理關係的暗喻，繼而告知情欲空間屬性；再由狹小通道的延伸，伴隨歌舞音樂的節奏，提升高漲的情欲。最後經由「藝」的展演，達成「色」的行為，進而提出整合體驗型經濟與工作場所的複合使用模式。最後經由設計的試驗與操作，呈現一件現代情欲空間形塑方案。

The thesis is a representation of an integrated design process: from the development of cognitive system toward the concrete design project.

Architectural design deals with problem in which lots of knowledge and insight are needed. The essence of this dissertation is an operation of design thinking, nothing to do with the quality and content knowledge, but to the efficiency of its application. History of sexual workers is my major resource.

“From outside to inside-A forming space of desire” is the main issue of this subject. The theory, “Activity derives from memory though generated the image “is the fundamental insight for this practice. Considering the required knowledge for this dissertation in progress, it mainly comes from “Shinmachi brothel district” during Japanese occupied era in Tainan --- an extreme representation of sexual industry model.

This dissertation begins with recognizing of historical implication of sexual workers and its evolving models from which realizing the inspiration of activity space, then seized the behavioral model of sexual culture during the Japanese occupied era and serves as space approach for exhibition of erotic culture. In view of interrelation between history and culture, this thesis uses original “Shinmachi brothel district” surrounding area near by the canal as the modern exhibition base for “erotic space” in Tainan. Alternatively select the then very prestigious “Real Garden brothel” as the sexual industry mode for example, from which to pull away, turning out modern erotic space proposition in three sequential orders: metaphorical entrance, lust promotion and artistic sexual exhibition.

The proposition is presented in a metaphoric relationship between entrance and surrounding urban texture, then informs property characteristic of the erotic space; by the extension of the narrow channel, along with the rhythm of the song and dancing music which is to promote soaring passions. Lastly by “artistic” exhibition in order to achieve “sexual” behavior, then proposed consolidation of experience economy and workplaces as compound usage patterns. Ultimately, proposition of shaping a modern erotic space through experiment and manipulation of design could be realized.
