As a primitive and direct sensory experience, touch can trigger a series of physiological responses through contact with the skin. Recent research has shown that tactile stimulation has a significant impact on alleviating emotions. For example, gentle tactile stimulation, such as soft stroking or massage, not only provides psychological comfort but also effectively stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation.
This study designs a relaxation device focused on touch feedback to meet the need for emotional relief. The design outlines five main requirements: 1. The device's outer layer is soft and breathable; 2. It is easy to clean; 3. It assists with relaxation training; 4. It is convenient for viewing device data; and 5. It is simple to use. The device can be used in two scenarios: 1. Under the guidance and supervision of a clinical psychologist for relaxation training; 2. Users can take the device home and use it for relaxation training as needed.
The implementation of this study is a pillow-shaped relaxation training device designed to meet the needs of clinical psychologists. By requiring a certain stroking distance and duration, with slow and steady strokes, and achieving a specific number of successful strokes, the device indirectly regulates the user's breathing, leading to a relaxation effect. Additionally, this relaxation device has two key features: 1. In terms of appearance and material, the traditional plush fabric and design have been replaced with a cooling, smoother fabric material, and a neutral appearance. 2. This relaxation device is paired with a dedicated app that allows users to monitor their usage at any time.
