In addition to improve interactions and emotions among people, social support can also help promote behavior change of people in various fields. While the partnership and chat message are effective strategies to promote physical activity, they can influence and change the original behavior of the target group. Therefore, they are often used in different areas of behavior change. However, it remains unclear how the combination of partnership and chat message will affect walking behavior change of sedentary office workers, and whether the effect of the interventions persists after the intervention period. Therefore, this study focuses on how the the interventions will affect the walking behavior of sedentary office workers, and change their behavioral motivation through the Let’s walk system designed by ourselves. According to the experimental results, we found that partner groups achieved the common steps goal, and communicated and interacted with partner were prompted most of the groups to increase their walking performance and motivation. However, not every group of partner groups has a positive behavioral change, we have found that the walking behavior of the partner group may be affected by gender differences and result in different behavioral changes depending on the interaction of gender combinations. However, the gender difference not only affects the interaction between partners, but also affects the interaction frequency and message content of the dialogue among partners. After we encode and summarize the content of the chat message into message categories, we also find out the relevance of the message categories and behavior cahnge. Overall, we aimed to understand the impact of partnership and chat message on walking behavior change, and provide a more accurate and appropriate way to combine the partnerships with specific message categories of the walking behavior change in the future. Therefore, we suggest that developers can appropriately apply the message categories related to behavior promotion as the dialogue contents, to help receivers obtain positive support from messages, and achieve the effect of promoting behavior change.
