Earing is one of the major defects observed during deep drawing process due to anisotropic nature of aluminum sheet, which is defined as the height difference between hills and valleys on the cup rim after deep drawing a circular blank. Furthermore, the texture of aluminum sheet affects the earing behavior of deep drawn cup. In this study, after annealing, the sheets were deep drawn to form a cup, and then the earing behavior was obtained. The texture and microstructure of annealed aluminum alloy sheets were measured by X-ray diffraction and electron backscatter diffraction, respectively. For the earing prediction, the Benke's model is used to correlate texture components to predict the earing ratio. The predicted earing ratio is positively consistent with experimental earing ratio for isochronal and isothermal annealing AA5151 aluminum alloy sheets with both correlation coefficients of 0.96. In addition, earing prediction can be applied to aluminum alloys 5151-O, 1070-O, 1050-O, 3003-O, EAC5-O, 6063-O, 8021A-O and 8021B-O except for 4N-O and 1N30-H.
