防盜窗，（俗稱鐵窗或鋁門窗）是台灣居民居住文化的一大特徵，也是造成台灣都市景觀混亂不堪的主要原因，文明社會帶來極大的生活便利，資訊四通八達，人們對於生活品質的提升是越來越重視，然而快速的工業發展與無規劃性的都市建造計畫，讓台灣市容景觀普遍雜亂。　

本研究之出發點為轉化防盜窗於民眾心中負面的視覺感官，「鐵窗文化」為台灣獨有之特色，在消費者眼中鐵窗卻是醜陋而且單調的產品，為了需求消費者依然會從醜陋沒特色的鐵窗中找尋比較有美感的產品。因此本研究運用形態建構法則，建置一套能產生具地域風格特色的鐵窗之設計系統。

本研究針對台南市建物特色所建置之鐵窗設計系統，包括兩大部份，即裝飾藝術建築量體之設計規則以及裝飾元素之萃取。第一部分是轉化鐵窗之間隔計算與裝飾藝術的裝飾佈局而成「造形文法資料庫」，第二部分轉化鐵窗之主體設計、雕花與裝飾藝術之裝飾主題而成的「產品構件資料庫」。將這兩大部份融入鐵窗組建過程，成為台南市日治時期裝飾藝術風格的鐵窗形態建構程序，程序上分成六大步驟：A.顧客需求、B.鐵窗框架建立、C.佈局文法選用、D.決定主題設計、E.雕花裝飾、F.製作。

The burglarproof window, or iron-barred window, is one of the features of Taiwanese culture of living, but it’s also on e of the main causes of disordered city scenery. As the civilization progresses and the mass communication develop quickly, people keep searching for better life quality. However, because of the fast industrial development and unorganized urban planning, the city scenery in Taiwan is messy almost everywhere.
This research intents to transform the negative visual image of burglarproof windows. “The iron-barred windows” are one of the amazing feature of Taiwan, but most of the mass produced burglarproof windows are staid without originality. However, for the basic burglarproof purpose, the consumer has to pick out relatively amusing and prettier product. Therefore, this research uses form generation principle to construct a design system of burglarproof windows full of regional cultural features.
This present study aims to offer a design system for the iron-barred windows correspondent to the characteristics of buildings in Tainan City, including two parts: the design rules for the buildings of art deco and the elicitation of the decoration elements. The first part is the shape grammar corpus which is to transform the consideration of intervals and the arrangement of art deco, and the second one is the product retrieve corpus which is to transform the main designs and styles of the iron-barred windows and the topics of art deco. To integrate the two parts into the manufacturing process of the iron-barred windows with the Japanese Colonial Period style in Tainan City, the procedure contains six steps: (A) the necessity of customers, (B) the framework construction of the iron-barred windows, (C) the selection of shape grammar, (D) the decision of main design, (E) the style of decoration, and (F) manufacture.
