Ecosystem issues have long been studied extensively, from an affiliation perspective or a structure perspective. Especially, there has been increasing discussion of "Governance" in recent years. Most researches relevant to ecosystem, however, have focused on the ecosystems built by large companies. Moreover, these researches relevant to ecosystems are all conducted with international well-known large enterprises or groups. However, few studies have explored in depth the ecosystem-related issues with small and medium enterprises. At the same time, there is a lack of relevant research focused on ecosystem governance so it makes us difficultly understand its comprehensive managerial implications. As a result, this study focused on "how to govern the platform ecosystem led by small and medium-sized enterprises. This study tries to clarify how an SME as an orchestrator aligning the agencing engagements of actors, making actors collectively collaborate. Ultimately, it co-creates value for various heterogeneous actors.
This study found that a small and medium enterprise as a focus firm in platform ecosystem will keep its own profession, release incentives, keep part information in secret, match partners and share business to establish lasting trustworthy relationship with other participants, and produce the agencing engagements of the partners. Ultimately it achieves the collective collaboration and mutually beneficial symbiosis.
Finally, the results of this study may be limited to the information industry, so it is hoped that there are studies exploring the ecosystem governance in other industries in the future.
