This thesis record the experience and life of the new generation of Vietnamese female workers working in Taiwanese factories in Binh Duong Province. With the transformation of their own identity, this new generation of factory Vietnamese females is eager to become a new working-class in Vietnam form. This thesis attempts to show how these young women workers overcome their living conditions and shape their own identity under the triple system of Vietnam's economic policy, patriarchy, and Taiwanese capitalism. First of all, this thesis describes the literary narrative of female factory workers in Vietnam to the historical mission of the first generation of female factory workers in the socialist era in production and combat, to the new generation of female workers in Vietnam's economic transformation. How will the status and changes of the new generation of female workers be reflected in the works? What is the aspect of the female workers' images described by Vietnamese writers in the special time and space? If the literary text shows the contradictions between urban and rural areas, class, and gender in the actual production relations, then the survey site described in this thesis in the field of struggle in real life.
This thesis introduces the historical origin of Binh Duong Province and foreign factories (including Taiwanese factories). Sample: an overview of factories, female factory workers, and Taiwanese factories' transnational business strategies in 1980s-from Taiwan to Mainland China, from Southeast Asia to Vietnam. This thesis emphasized that under the economic growth of Binh Duong Province (Vietnam), to be forced to relocate to Binh Duong Province due to high labor costs of Taiwan-funded manufacturing factories, what changes have taken place in their labor system? The research on feminist theory and gender culture discusses and analyzes common explanations and theoretical features in Vietnamese gender culture studies. How do these theoretical frameworks affect the research on female workers in Taiwanese factories? In particular, through the stories of nine new-generation Vietnamese female workers working in Taiwanese factories, the
thesis describes the lives of unmarried and married Vietnamese female workers in the production line struggling and thinking around factory life and work experience. Whether unmarried or married female workers, each of them has multiple identities and multiple responsibilities, such as wives, mothers, daughters-in-law, daughters, workers, etc. However, in mainstream discourse, they have singularized as "female workers" identity. In a highly mobile society, the new generation of Vietnamese female workers who go out to work often encounter the dilemma of working and taking care of their families. How can they find a balanced mentality? During the migration process, how does the "family reproduction" of female workers proceed? How does the "family strategy" between choice
and action balance both? The stories recorded in the oral interviews with Vietnamese female workers in Taiwanese factories in the thesis will be attempts and actions to answer this question.
