The purpose of this study is to explore and understand the work pressure and psychological adjustment processes of frontline logistics and transportation workers, as well as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. By raising public awareness and respect for logistics workers, the study attempts to provide recommendations for strategic adjustments in logistics management practices.
The study employs a qualitative approach with an experiential analysis perspective. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with seven logistics workers from different companies with varying years of experience, and the transcripts were analyzed using thematic analysis.
The result proposes four primary sources of work stress for logistics workers: (1) physical fatigue and time pressures due to large quantity of goods; (2) increased workloads during peak seasons and the pandemic; (3) challenges in adaptation for new employees and high staff turnover rates; and (4) high standards and low tolerance for errors imposed by clients and companies.
The study also confirms that societal stereotypes about the logistics and transportation industry still exist, although they have diminished in recent years. Additionally, the results indicate that, rather than transitioning from the title of "delivery worker" to more professional titles such as "logistics specialist" or "transportation specialist," frontline logistics workers believe that receiving corresponding salaries or benefits could significantly enhance their retention rates.
