Community security is an important requirement, and the urbanization development in recent years of Taiwan, the quality of the life improves greatly, but the question hidden in the environment of living appears slowly. The high building and apartment development. The public space in the community is reduced, and too many dark space in the community.A lot of crime events often take place around the house and in the house. Therefore, community security is important.
The space design should make comfortable living space, in the research, the reason of criminal offence is quite complicated, crime prevention of environmental design, and effective person is work to reduce criminal offence.Although there are other research at home, but the range is not enough, is discussed in one specific community or area. About the community planning, there is Chiang, Ya-Fen (1998) which study is to make in accordance with opening of community, without to make the compare ‘community planning’, ‘planning characteristic’ with ‘fear of crime’. Therefore, the major purports in this study are about the impacts on resident's fear of crime in different community layout model, and whether the territorial level of living space has influence on residents' fear of crime.
Chooses six communities in Tainan, depend on its different planning condition. Adopt the questionnaire way, amount to 298 effective questionnaires.
The result of study shows:
1、The sense of community of the lane getting type community is the minimum, the fear of crime is the highest.
2、The community road system is passing through had higher fear of crime than facing the secondary and main community, and its sense of community is obviously higher than the community facing the secondary road.
3、The higher community's consciousness has the lower fear of crime.
4、In resident's background attribute, the age has more apparent influence on degree of sense of community; With age level, living time, and floor that inhabit position impact on fear of crime obvious.
