The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the relationships between the time of leisure and sports, perceived health status, and individual life satisfaction. The data of 2013 Taiwan Social Change Survey is employed in this study. The methodology employed to examine the mediating effect is proposed by Baron and Kenny (1986). In the whole sample, the results show that the time of leisure and sports is significantly and positively related to perceived health status and perceived health status is significantly and positively related to life satisfaction. Furthermore, the time of leisure and sports is significantly and positively related to life satisfaction. When perceived health status is added to the regression equation, the coefficient of the time of leisure and sports to life satisfaction becomes apparently weakens. According to Baron and Kenny (1986), the results show that there exists a mediating effect of perceived health status. In addition, in the full-time sample, the time of leisure and sports and perceived health status are significantly and positively related to life satisfaction, but the time of leisure and sports is not significantly related to perceived health status, the results show that there does not exist a mediating effect of perceived health status.
