With the continuous development of science and technology, people transmit information through devices and spread far and wide. Human-computer interaction has more and more dimensions, from visual and auditory to the haptic experience. Through haptic feedback, people can receive different messages, including material feelings or status reminders, but less research is focused on the emotional transmission of tactile feedback. We can see people’s expressions and behaviors through our eyes to understand whether he is sad or not, and we can also listen to the other’s voice to know how the emotions are, but in an era when text messages are highly proliferated, can we use haptic feedback to convey the emotion we want to express?
The research of music on the exploration of emotions has been quite basic, and many studies have shown that music can make people feel a variety of emotions. Further analysis revealed that tempo is one of the main causes of emotional changes. Therefore, this research will use music as a sample base, manipulate tempo variables, and transform them into haptic feedback for experiments, and analyze the results of the experiments through the framework of the emotional dimension model. There will be two experiments. Experiment one will use the haptic feedback generated by music samples. Experiment two will change the tempo of the samples to understand whether there are differences in emotional perception of the tempo factors on the haptic feedback.
