Method: A cross-sectional design was conducted at a tertiary referral HIV-designated hospital. Individuals were assessed using the short version of Problems and Needs of Palliative Care (PNPC-sv) and the World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL-BREF) instrument that has been translated into Bahasa with satisfactory reliability and validity. Linear regression applied to determine the relationships among problems and needs of palliative care and quality of life.

Fatigue as a major problems experienced by 67.5% of patients and over 30% patients’ needs of attention on fatigue program from professional. Mean total score for quality of life 79.9 (range 46.2-101.2). Gender, initiation of HAART, Problems experienced by patients with HIV/AIDS and their need were associated with QoL with R2= 0.329.
Conclusion: The study identified the quality of life among patients with HIV/AIDS are significantly associated with gender, initiation of HAART, numbers of problems and needs of palliative care. Thus, health care policy should start to initiate HAART following WHO guideline to improve patients’ quality of life and solve their problems related to sleeping problems and fatigue.
