目前虛擬實境技術在各個領域的應用已經是非常普遍,然而虛擬實境所需要的研究儀器或是應用設備的價格仍然高居不下,這也造成了研究開發者的瓶頸,因此逐漸有越來越多的研究轉而朝向擴充現實發展,擴充現實有別虛擬實境,在特性上有所不同的地方,且擴充現實所需要的儀器不需要如同虛擬實境般的昂貴,因此本研究的著眼點是,在工業設計領域的設計過程中,我們是否能導入擴充現實的技術,帶給設計過程中一種新的視覺呈現方式,因此本研究嘗試以一個產品的設計過程中配置設計的階段,導入擴充現實的技術,探討新技術對設計過程的影響。
本研究主要在於應用擴充現實的技術於設計活動中的配置設計階段,使用工具主要是由華盛頓大學人因介面技術實驗室(University of Washington Human Interface Technology Laboratory)所研發出的一套擴充現實工具軟體ARToolKit,ARToolKit係一建構擴充現實場景的C語言函式庫,本研究利用ARToolKit建立一個擴充現實環境,來支援使用者進行配置設計的活動,提供使用者一更為直覺的操作環境。
Virtual Reality(VR) is very popular in different kinds of research fields. However, the equipment for virtual reality research are very expensive and cause the choke point to the research organization. Therefore , there are gradually more people to invest in the research of the argument reality(AR), the argument reality has some different character to the virtual reality, and the cost of argument reality is not as expensive as virtual reality. In this study, we are trying to use the argument reality technology to visualize the configuration design process and explore the argument technology into the industrial design field.
The ARToolKit , was developed by the University of Washington Human Interface Technology Laboratory, was used to build the Argument reality environment in configuration design process, It demonstrated the Argument reality environment in configuration design process can support the designer more tangible activity for configuration design visualization.
