The association between Salutogenic and products is the main topic investigated in this study. Through literature review, this study aims to understand the relationship between the concept of Salutogenic, elements of product design, and the psychological impact of human-machine interaction.
Based on the theoretical framework, this study follows three steps of theoretical construction: structure, framework, and model, in order to develop a theoretical model of product Salutogenic. In the field of product design, there is a lack of research on human cognition and psychological well-being. The focus in product design concepts is often on reducing harmful factors, while the aspect of whether a product can promote individual health is often overlooked. Therefore, this study starts from the perspective of Salutogenic and constructs the concept and evaluation method of product Salutogenic.
By using the evaluation data from the product Salutogenic scale, designers and manufacturers can assess the gap between their product and others, providing directions for subsequent product modifications. It also helps to understand the cognitive gap between designers and users, enabling improvements in the product that better meet user needs and expectations. This theoretical model can assist manufacturers in saving costs during the early stages of development and producing designs that are more aligned with user expectations, leading to higher user satisfaction and increased efficiency and profits for manufacturers.
