This study investigates the causal relationships among leader-member exchange theory, groupthink, and decision quality in educational institutions, using Institution A as the research subject. A qualitative research analysis was conducted through multiple case studies from February 10, 2023 to March 1, 2023, using interviews with the participants to address the aforementioned issues. Based on the research results, three main propositions were proposed in this study. First, leaders and members in the Chinese world have more complex emotions and behavior of trust and followership. Second, groupthink phenomenon is not easily perceived by the group as a gradual process. Third, members have inconsistent views on the decision quality of the group under groupthink.
