  • 棒球面罩是用來在棒球比賽中保護捕手及裁判的臉部,以避免招受到棒球的撞擊造成傷害。而現今一般所使用的面罩是由1008 steel所製成,雖然可以保護捕手及裁判的臉部安全,但超過1公斤的重量對捕手而言,在去除面罩接球及傳球的反應及機動性,重量造成一些影響。而對裁判而言,長時間使用造成臉部負擔,進而影響球賽的判決,加上1008 steel面罩製作過程複雜耗時且成本過高,因此,本文提出構想來研發新的面罩材料。但在製造模具量產之前,必須要有一套完整的理論分析模式,以免造成人力及物力的浪費。
    本研究先根據棒球面罩規格,運用Pro-Engineer 3D繪圖軟體,建立棒球面罩3D幾何模型。再將Pro-Engineer 3D繪圖軟體所建立棒球面罩的3D幾何模型,轉到3D有限元素分析軟體ANSYS/LS-DYNA,並進行元素的切割。同時,根據實際棒球各種撞擊施力的狀態,建立起負載的條件,並根據實際面罩穿戴的狀況,建立起面罩的邊界條件。應用非線性有限元素法,進行棒球面罩於高速撞擊狀態下的變形模擬,並將棒球撞擊面罩時的狀況以3D動畫顯示出來。
    其次,本文也根據現在所使用材料1008 steel的棒球面罩尺寸及規格進行有限元素ANSY/LS-DYNA的變形分析,並根據所分析的變形量,求出新材料鎂合金的棒球面罩在類似的變形量下,應該有的尺寸大小。此外,該分析模式可用來分析任何新的棒球面罩材料,只需輸入材料的基本性質,則棒球面罩的變形結果將可透過此模式,迅速瞭解結果以作為製造模具量產評估的重要參考。

    Masco Company is the only company which is commissioned to produce the baseball mask. Masco Company is thinking to replace the old material of the carbon steel baseball mask by new material. Before making a mold and mass production, to avoid the waste of human and material power, a complete theoretical analysis model is needed to analyze and to make a decision. However, none of the research technology can be found as a reference from inside and outside the country. Masco Company doesn’t has the capability to develop the technology. Therefore, the Department of Engineering Science of National Cheng Kung University is commissioned to propose this research project to study this subject.
    This research project can be divided into three pats. The first part is to base on the actual specification of the baseball mask and to use the Pro-Engineer graphic software to build the 3D analysis model and its solid graphic. The second part is to transfer the analysis model, which is built from the Pro-Engineer graphic software, to the finite element method software ANSYS and proceed the element cut and mesh construction. The third part is to use the finite element method software ANSYS/LS-DYNA to analyze the deformation. Based on the deformation result, the 3D moving graphic situation of the baseball mask during the baseball bumping the mask is demonstrated.
    After this research project is finished, a computer analysis model can be supplied to Masco Company. This model can be used to analyze the deformation when the baseball bumps the mask. The result can offer an important guide to make a decision before making a mold and mass production.
