陶瓷可以說是首個人類設計的材料。自古人類便在建築中使用陶瓷材料來達到美觀、耐用、紀錄等效果,陶瓷材料的應用能反應出建造當下的技術背景與文化內涵。現今的陶瓷面磚是工業化生產技術的成果,以產品的形式供設計者選用,經過一個世紀的發展大家對於貼面磚這件事情已經極為熟悉,但隨著生產與組構技術的進步,新型態的建築陶瓷隨之出現,從國際間諸多案例便可以觀察到建築陶瓷在設計上的多種可能性。
為了充分利用建築陶瓷的特性,設計者與陶瓷生產者合作是較為理想的模式,但陶瓷面磚產品的使用導致兩者的關係更加疏遠,市面上也鮮少有相關文獻能夠激發建築師在建築陶瓷方面的設計靈感。本研究基於上述原因,以設計者為主要書寫對象,並受到「系統思考」啟發,統整出一套系統性理論,涵蓋了與建築陶瓷相關的各項內容,扮演連接設計、陶瓷生產以及施工三者之間的橋樑。
本研究的內容是結合相關文獻與專業者訪談的成果,其中分為「系統性理論架構」、「生產流程」與「設計方法」三大項目探討:
系統性理論架構中,以材料本位檢視陶瓷在建築中應用的優劣勢,並對歷史中曾出現過的建築陶瓷案例進行調查,最終討論現今建築陶瓷的潛力,並提出涵蓋各項內容的系統性理論架構作為後續研究的基礎。
生產流程包含「陶瓷單元的生產」以及「構造與施工」兩個主題,解析建築陶瓷的生產流程,釐清各個環節與建築構築的關係,除了專業知識的收集外,也會搭配相關的案例分析,目標為最大化呈現陶瓷在建築上構築的可能性。
設計方法包含「陶瓷單元的性質」與「設計方法」的探討,解析與建築陶瓷設計相關的事項,談論「設計目標」、「設計流程」等事項,並從生產流程的的專業知識中萃取並整理出設計時可參照的資訊。
關於研究最終的呈現,生產流程的各項內容多以文字敘述與圖片說明的方式記載;設計方法則是會以流程圖、表格的方式呈現作為設計者可參照的工具。盼研究成果能幫助設計者更加認識陶瓷材料並促進陶瓷在建築實務中的應用。
With the advancement of manufacture technology, architectural ceramic become a promising field. People nowadays are familiar with adhered tiles, but there are numerous possibilities that haven’t been discovered. In order to give full play to the properties of architectural ceramic while designing, the establishment of designer oriented systematic theory is necessary. This theory contains the manaufacturing process, construction methods, and design method of the architectural ceramic. Hoping that the results of this research can help designers become more familiar with ceramaic material and promote the applications of ceramics in architectural design practice.
