(Taiwan Database of Children and Youth in Poverty,簡稱TDCYP)長期追蹤調查計畫之資料庫,利用第五波2017年調查資料進行分析有效樣本為1,609人。

This study aims to explore the relationship between life events and depressive emotions among economically disadvantaged youth. The data for this study was derived from the Taiwan Database of Children and Youth in Poverty (TDCYP). The analysis utilized the fifth wave of data collected in 2017, with a valid sample size of 1,609 participants. The study results indicate the following: Life events experienced by economically disadvantaged youth are positively correlated with depressive emotions. Social support and a sense of hope among economically disadvantaged youth is negatively correlated with depressive emotions. Social support mediates the relationship between life events and depressive emotions among economically disadvantaged youth. A sense of hope does not have a significant moderating effect on the relationship between major life events and depressive emotions among economically disadvantaged youth.
To sum up, for economically disadvantaged youth facing life events, social support plays a crucial role in alleviating depressive emotions. Moreover, the higher the sense of hope, the lower the depressive emotions. Therefore, relevant authorities should emphasize the function of social support. Schools should work to enhance peer support and teacher support, while social welfare agencies should focus on strengthening the role of family education. Additionally, educators and mentors can guide children to recognize hope and further realize it.
